1. My heart rejoices and I will sing,
    Rock of salvation, my blessed King
You have exalted me in Your great might,
    And Your deliverance is my delight.

2. You who are proud, be careful my friend,
    Things will be turned around in the end.
God weighs your deeds and your actions are known,
    And you will reap all the evil you’ve sown.

3. Be like the meek, who wait on the Lord,
    Those who are full will get no reward;
How have the faithful become great indeed!
    God has increased them like Abraham’s seed.

4. By human strength shall no one prevail,
    God is the Judge, His word will avail;
Great is His goodness, and justice, and might,
    Full of compassion, yet judging aright.

5. All who delight in Him, He lifts up,
    Glory and riches flow from their cup;
Out of the dust they’ll be raised to the throne,
    God rules the earth, and He blesses His own.

This poem is based on Hannah’s prayer, as recorded in 1 Samuel 2:1-10:

1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoices in the Lord, my horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over my enemies; because I rejoice in Your salvation.
2 There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
3 Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
4 The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
5 They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that has many children is waxed feeble.
6 The Lord kills, and makes alive: he brings down to the grave, and brings up.
7 The Lord makes poor, and makes rich: he brings low, and lifts up.
8 He raises up the poor out of the dust, and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and he hath set the world upon them.
9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
