Zacharias Worked as a Priest
 
1. Zacharias worked as a priest 
In the temple of the Lord;
Loved his God and never ceased 
Walking in His holy word. 
 
2. Suddenly an angel appeared,
By the incense altar bright;
Zacharias saw and feared 
At the glory of the sight. 
 
3. "Do not fear, your prayer is heard,
And your wife shall bear a son.
With rejoicing at his birth,
Shall men greet this chosen one." 
 
4. "Wine or strong drink, he will not taste.
He shall be a temp'rate man;
And filled with the Holy Ghost,
Walk according to God's plan." 
 
5. "In Elijah's spirit and pow'r,
He will turn hearts to the light,
And announce the coming hour 
Of the Saviour, Jesus Christ."
