The Suffering Servant 1. He was despised and rejected by men, A man of sorrows, acquainted with grief, We hid as it were, our faces from Him, He was despised, not esteemed. Refrain: Surely our griefs He bore, And our sorrows He carried away, Surely our sins He bore, And our sorrows He carried away; Our sorrows He carried away. 2. For our transgressions His wounds were received, For all our sins He was bruised unto death, The chastisement of our peace was on Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Refrain) 3. For our salvation the Lord gave Him up, All we like sheep wandered out of the way, By His scourging we are healed for all time, He is our off'ring for sin. (Refrain) Text: based on Isaiah 53
