The Gospel Jesus Taught
 
1. The gospel Jesus taught on earth, 
And practiced, while He preach'd;
Brought health to body, mind, and soul 
Of those whom sin had reach'd.
His word cleansed from disease and sin 
And never lost a case;
A stream of life from heav'n to earth 
For all the human race. 
 
2. This gospel has not changed with time, 
But stands forever sure;
It's built on God's almighty word, 
Which ever will endure.
God's promises still have the key 
Of life, and health, and peace;
For Jesus only, only He, 
Is all the cure they teach. 
 
3. The life of Jesus in the soul 
Is true, unfailing health;
It frees from slavish habits, and 
It can't be bought with wealth.
It is a healing fountain that 
Renews the nerves and brain;
A foretaste of that world to come, 
Where there will be no pain. 
 
4. Then seek Him while He may be found, 
He is not far away;
Put not your faith in human skill, 
Let God prescribe today.
Then will the life of Jesus flow 
In streams so rich and broad,
And you will see, and hear, and know, 
Your Saviour, Doctor, God!
