Self-Abnegation
 
1. Lucifer, angel pure; leader of the heav'nly choir;
Sought to rise above his place, fell instead to shame, disgrace. 
 
2. Baptist John, voice of one, crying 'neath the desert sun;
Always putting self aside, shows the Bridegroom to the Bride. 
 
3. Ellen White, lesser light; pointing to the greater Light;
All her writings lead and draw, to the Bible, to the Law. 
 
5. God's own Son, Holy One; that His Father's will be done,
Humbled to a death of shame, to exalt His Father's name. 
 
6. Lord on high, so must I from self-exaltation fly!
Make me modest, meek and low, that I may Thy beauty show. 
 
4. Sacred Law, without flaw, perfect image of our God;
Lead us, guide us, unto Him who can put thy code within.
