Like a Deer to the Water 1. Like a deer to the water, so I long for my Father, For my God, and no other, how my soul flies away! You, the lovely and pure Light, in the day and the midnight Eyes are longing for Your sight, tears flow at Your delay. 2. Flying over the water, my eternal Creator, My Redeemer and Saviour, Jesus, King of all kings. How my heart longs each hour, as a bee for the flowers, As a desert for showers, as a deer to the springs. 3. In the souls who seek pleasure, ease, and comfort, and leisure, Laughter too, without measure, Christ can never be found. How I long for that highness, where lives brotherly kindness, Pure affection, not dryness, there, where true love abounds.
