New Sabbath

“…and call the Sabbath a delight,
the holy of the Lord, honourable.” Isaiah 58:13

1. Welcome sweet day of rest,
    To God my thoughts arise;
Welcome to this reviving breast,
    And these rejoicing eyes,
    And these rejoicing eyes.

2. The King Himself draws near,
    And feasts His saints today;
Here we may sit, and see Him here,
    And love and praise and pray,
    And love and praise and pray.

3. One day in such a place,
    Where You, my God, are seen,
Is sweeter than ten thousand days
    Where You have never been,
    Where You have never been.

4. My willing soul would stay
    In such a place as this,
And sit and sing herself away
    To everlasting bliss,
    To everlasting bliss.
