Refrain
The Word of God has mighty pow’r,
    God speaks, and it is done!
For by His word He made the worlds
    And set alight the suns.

1. And by His Word all things are kept in their appointed place,
He guides the tiny atom’s course, the untold worlds in space;
He spoke the Word, and instantly the raging sea was stilled,
At His command the dead were raised, and all the sick were healed.
Refrain

2. The Scriptures are God’s Word to us, and in them we will find
God’s promises to give us life, and health and peace of mind;
For by His Word He speaks His peace to ev’ry troubled soul,
In tones of deepest love, He says “I wilt, be thou made whole.”

Healing the Blind ManThe creative power of God is seen in the works of nature. But it is yet more strikingly seen in the works of redemption. This is a restoring work: taking that which was ruined by sin and making it into a vessel of honor again.

It did not take the Lord eons of time to establish the first creation: He spoke, and it was done. Likewise with the work of redemption. The forgiveness and cleansing of sin does not take a lifetime to achieve: God speaks, and it is done.

With that in mind, it is not surprising that when God sends forth His final “everlasting gospel” message to the world, He reminds them of His creative power in nature:

Revelation 14
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
