Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine.
I lay all my plans at Thy feet.
Use me today in Thy service.
Abide, abide with me, abide with me,
And let all my work be wrought in Thee.

The words from this song are drawn directly from the book, Steps to Christ, p. 70:

Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work. Let your prayer be, “Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service. Abide with me, and let all my work be wrought in Thee.” This is a daily matter. Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day. Surrender all your plans to Him, to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate. Thus day by day you may be giving your life into the hands of God, and thus your life will be molded more and more after the life of Christ.

  1. Kenney bateman says:

What does it mean to surrender all my plans to Christ?

  2. practic2300 says:

Kenney, There are some things that only God can plan, and there are other smaller details, once He has given us our work, that we can plan. It was not Abraham’s place to plan how the promised son would be born. Trying to do God’s part only resulted in an Ishmael. His part in that promise was to believe. But when the promised son was born, there were many things that he would have to do to train Isaac. He would, in the fear of God, plan out these details, but always give them back to God, to be carried out or given up, as God’s providence should indicate. A more full treatment of this subject can be found in the book, God’s Sabbath Rest.
