In Times of Darkness

1. In times of darkness and distress,
    On You, bright Sun of Righteousness,
    My faith has fixed its eye;
You plan my way, ahead I go,
    Nor fear the ruin spread below,
    For You are always nigh.

2. Not all the pow’rs of hell can fright
    A soul that walks with Christ in light;
    He walks and cannot fall:
He clearly sees, and finds his way,
    He walks unto the perfect day,
    And more than conquers all.

3. I rest in Your almighty power;
    The name of Jesus is a tower,
    That hides my life above:
You can, You will my Helper be;
    With confidence to You I flee,
    The faithful God of love.

4. Wherefore, in never-ceasing prayer,
    I place my soul into Your care,
    A care that does not end;
This life You gave I know you’ll save,
    And show Yourself beyond the grave
    My everlasting Friend.
