1. Tear drops are falling, lonely hearts are calling,
    This world is full of woe, O how I long to go
Tell them the story of our Father’s glory,
    Love beams that grace this lonely vale below.

Refrain
O how God loves us! He gave us Jesus;
    Come in repentance, He will forgive;
Come share His glory, then tell the story,
    God gave us Jesus that we might live.

2. You who are crying, who for love are dying,
    This world is full of Him. Let not your faith be dim;
Joy bells are ringing, Angel choirs are singing;
    Mercy shines brightly thru’ the cherubim.

The gift of Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of the Father, was for eternity. Forever has He been given to the human race, forever to retain a created body, forever to be one with us.

Possessing the immortal nature of God Himself, He condescended to be housed in the body of a creature. It is an unimaginable condescension, and an unimaginable gift of the Father to us.

It is an even more infinite condescension when we consider that He, the spotless One, did not take the sinless body of Adam before the fall, but the sin-cursed flesh of mankind 4000 years after the fall had degraded it.

And why? To lift us up, to give us a new life and hope, to raise us to sit with Him in heavenly places.

This is Love beyond comprehension!

Unworthy and feeble though this song be, it calls attention to that glorious truth, and the invaluable comfort that springs from it for all the oppressed and weary ones on earth.
